My Awesomeness List Coming True | Oprah Winfrey

I believe everyone goes through life with a dream of someday doing something great!  That something great might be simply competing in a marathon,  having a child,  living in another country or truly living out your greatest potential.

For me, and for a very long time I have always wanted to meet Oprah Winfrey. Some people might say I have had some of the most awesome experiences already in life. I’ve worked with and for Civil Rights leader  Rev. Jesse Jackson, I’ve met Michael Jackson,  I’ve organized performances for and met Aretha Franklin and dozens of other celebrities. But OPRAH herself…Naw, haven’t come close.

So you might be thinking, “Why, is this at the top of your awesomeness list?” Well, besides the fact that I believe she’s just a phenomenal person, she’s that individual that I just simply admire. See, you never know someone’s true story, but I’ve imagined how much she’s had to sacrifice to reach where she is today. I admire her truthfulness telling,  her overcoming ability and her just awesome personality.

So, you could imagine the look on my face when I received an email from one of the Oprah Winfrey Network Executives requesting to chat with me about my blog.  I cried, I laughed and I screamed with excitement.

As a result of that conversation,  they have offered to host Urban Mommy at The Life You Want Weekend tour with Oprah Winfrey in Seattle. Yes, folks I finally get to see Oprah up close and Live. And I’m hoping I get the chance to actually shake her hand and tell her personally how I’ve always admired her.
She’s been my inspiration while growing up as a teenager in Chicago,  Illinois on the westside.  Watching her from a distance motivated me to always have hope, always give back to other people, always strive for excellence and never give up on yourself. What a powerful motivator.

This is one of my moments I’ve been looking forward too and I get to do it with my very own organization Urban Mommy that strives to make a difference in the lives of Urban Mothers and families.

Myself along with four other phenomenal contributing guest writers will be blogging live November 7th and 8th in Seattle at the Life You Want Tour. Throughout the two day event We will interview attendees, sponsors and Tour speakers.

  1. I think I jumped up and down while reading this and went “eeeeeee” – I’m super thrilled for you!! Oprah!!! I LOVE that woman, always have. She has had such a positive influence over so many aspects of my life since I was a teen. I do believe if I ever meet the woman herself I might faint with joy.

Good luck on your upcoming awsomeness. It’s time to revel!!!!!!!
